Tillman Self to Run For Superior Court Judge Seat

By Amanda Smith

The Law Firm of Sell & Melton has enjoyed the diverse talents for nine years of Tillman E. Self III, who is now running for the seat of Superior Court Judge of the Macon Judicial Circuit.

A native of Macon, Tripp Self and his wife Carlen have one daughter, Walker, who is 2 ˝.  Self officiates college football and enjoys politics, also citing hunting and fishing as his hobbies.

Over 125 attorneys have endorsed Tripp, who is in general practice with an emphasis on litigation.  He remarked on Drug Court as “an absolutely valuable program doing an incredible job; the next Superior Court Judge will be making a mistake if he/she doesn’t support it.”

Tripp has three points he’d like to make to voters:

1)     His experience in Superior Court – Self has never specialized in any specific area of law, nor focused his practice in another court system “I am the only candidate who has practiced such broad and diverse areas of law in the Superior Court.  I feel that having actually practiced various areas of law that a Superior Court Judge would handle gives me a real edge.”

2)     Judicial temperament – Self says he allows people to be heard - “people want to know they have been listened to by the judge.”

3)     Passion for public service – “I view this campaign as a calling; the community needs to elect someone who has the drive to be the best judge he/she can be.”

Tripp Self wants your vote on November 7, 2006.  “I understand that I work for the community, not the other way around.  I will be accessible to the public and accountable to the people.”
