Business Person Of The Year

By Amanda Smith

The After Five Professional Networking Association will celebrate its seventh anniversary in the Macon and Middle Georgia area with its Annual "An Evening of Elegance" Black Tie Dinner and Gala on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 7pm at the Macon Centreplex Ballroom.

After Five will honor its 2006 Business Person of the Year recipient, Mr. Herbert Dennard, of the Herbert Dennard Show and Owner and Publisher of The Georgia Informer newspaper.  Dennard is a pillar in the Middle Georgia community; an accomplished business and community leader with affiliation in a myriad of professional and community organizations.

The mission of After Five is to create community.  “After Five has grown in its participation in the community over the past seven years and is making a difference in Middle Georgia by helping to build partnerships among businesses and connecting the community through service and business relations,” said Win Roshell, After Five President and CEO.  “We will continue to contribute to the quality of life that the Middle Georgia community has to offer.”

Their mission is realized through programs like the Youth Enrichment/Senior Care Program.  This initiative is designed to enrich the lives of underserved youth through focused efforts designed to provide them with the tools they need to help successfully build their local, national, and global communities.  The Senior Care initiative is a partnership with Family Care solutions to help reduce health disparities by providing home care and companion services for seniors who are in critical need of additional care that may not be covered by Medicare or insurance.

The mission, the spirit of those behind AFTER FIVE, and the commitment to improving the business community is sure to have a significant impact that will long be recognized in the Macon-Middle Georgia area.  With AFTER FIVE’s Youth Programs and Scholarships Awards to area youth, the contributions of AFTER FIVE will certainly be felt for years to come.
