Andrew Young Turns 75!  

 

CELEBS JOIN THE CELEBRATION

          

The 75th Anniversary of Andrew Young’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.   The Honorable Andrew Young will be the center of attraction as the life of this great Civil Rights Leader is honored for his love, ministry, mentoring and philanthropy to name a few of his many attributes.  

 

Celebrity guests include poet extraordinaire Dr. Maya Angelou, and the astonishing Grammy Award winners Donnie McClurkin, and Najee. They are joined by legendary comic Dick Gregory, the talented Angela Bassett as well as the incomparable funnyman Chris Tucker and our very own The Honorable Mayor Shirley Franklin.

This event will benefit the Andrew Young Foundation.  To honor Ambassador Young on this significant occasion, members of the corporate community, family and friends have planned an evening of festivities. On Sunday, May 6th, we will celebrate his birthday with a dinner gala featuring spectacular entertainment.  The VIP reception will begin at 5:00 p.m., with the program starting at 6:15 p.m. The proceeds from the gala will benefit the Andrew Young Foundation.

The mission of The Andrew Young Foundation is to support and promote education, health, leadership and human rights in the United States, Africa and the Caribbean.  Formed in the context of a philosophy of nonviolent social change and a belief that to unto whomsoever much if given, of him shall be much required, the Foundation works to support, promote and develop global institutions and leaders with the capacity and knowledge to improve and enhance social and economic justice and human rights through faith, nonviolent action, democratic institutions and socially responsible for-profit corporation.

 

Benefactors of the Foundation are Clark Atlanta University and the Jean Childs Young Middle School.
