Radio Talk
Show host and “The People’s Attorney” Warren Ballentine
has called for a National Blackout Day for all African
Americans on November 2,
2007.
Ballentine
believes that a National Blackout Day is necessary to
combat hate crimes and injustices against African
Americans that are being perpetrated on a daily
basis. From
Jena 6, Mychal
Bell, and Genarlow Wilson to the resurgence of hanging
nooses, African Americans continue to be the #1 object
for injustices of every conceivable kind.
African
Americans spend an estimated $715 billion a year in this
country. A
successful National Blackout would keep $2 billion out
the system and would show economic power, says
Ballentine.
He asks that everyone refrain from purchasing
ANYTHING on November 2,
2007, from fast food to gasoline.
Even better would be to refrain from making any
purchases, particularly large ones on November 1-3
so that the Blackout will have
the greatest effect.
Ballentine is an attorney who
inspires his listeners, whom he refers to as “Truth
Fighters,” to take action to solve problems. His radio talk
show airs for three hours daily and he and his call-in
listeners conduct frank and open discussions about
everything from legal issues to
sex.
