Fresh From South Carolina Win, Obama Speaks In Macon

By Amanda Smith

Fresh from his overwhelming victory over Hillary Clinton and John Edwards in the South Carolina presidential primary, Barack Obama visited Harvest Cathedral in Macon, Georgia and gave a 30 minute speech using the biblical account of the Good Samaritan to discuss personal responsibility on the part of the voters in the upcoming presidential election.

Speaking to a crowd of about 1,400 attendees, Obama stated that people of faith have a responsibility to express their values “not just through our churches and our synagogues, but through our government.”  He also applauded the diverse makeup of nondenominational Harvest Cathedral which has a membership of about 60% white to 40% black.  "Harvest is a testimony to what is possible," he said. "Twenty years ago, this wasn't possible. "Everywhere I go across this country, I'm hearing from evangelicals who may not agree with me or progressives on every single issue, but agree that poverty has no place in a world of plenty, and hate has no place in a world of believers.
