“New programs, dedicated people and positive attitudes at Morris Brown College are making a difference,” says Dr. Stan Pritchett, the acting president of the college. “Campus life is looking up with the infusion of new faculty members, a little more funding, and, of course, some of the most dedicated people in the world to work with. Morris Brown is recovering from its major challenge; and with the help of a ‘circle of friends,’ we will succeed.”
Morris Brown College announces the Circle of Friends, a national campaign created to engage advocates and solicit financial support in order to expand the base of constituents and increase annual contributions for programs and initiatives of the college. This campaign is expected to create new partnerships between Morris Brown College and the broader community including corporate, religious and educational leaders, and the individual philanthropist. The Reverend Dr. Walter Kimbrough, Pastor in Residence at Mt Pisgah United Methodist Church & Pastor Emeritus of Cascade United Methodist Church , is serving as the honorary chairperson for the Circle of Friends.

At the recent Morris Brown Founder’s Day, Dr. Kimbrough delivered the key note address, challenging the audience that included the graduating class of 2008, to “remember who you are and where you came from; press forward toward your goals; and be determined to be a champion. A field goal won’t do; we need a touchdown,” he said.
Campus dining has returned to Morris Brown College through the services of The Murrell Group. Students are able to take their meals on campus at the new Murrell Café @ Scholars, located in the Hickman Student Center . The café is also open to the public with a full schedule of breakfast, lunch and dinner; more detail on menu options is available on line at www.murrellscafeatscholars.com. The college book store, a convenience store for students, has also reopened in the Hickman Student Center .
New professors have been added to the faculty of Morris Brown. Dr. Greg McPherson, professor of music, has provided leadership for the development of the new Singers at Morris Brown made up of students enrolled in the music concentration area. Several students, including Natashia Coleman from Kansas City , MO and Ayna Dixon from South Carolina , came to Morris Brown especially for voice training under the tutelage of Dr. McPherson.
Morris Brown recently received renewed funding from the U. S. Department of Education to implement Upward Bound, a project created to increase the rate at which pre-college level students graduate from high school and enroll in post secondary institutions. This Upward Brown program is funded at $1,000,000 – $250,000 per year for four years.
Morris Brown College has a new vision, moving from crisis to championship, focusing on providing a global and diverse learning environment for students, especially the underserved .
