Organizers
are selling shares at $10 a share in an effort to raise
the capital needed to open what will be the only
majority minority-owned bank in Macon, Georgia.
“Macon is the last
metro area in
Georgia that does
not have a minority-owned bank,” said Carl Fambro, one
of the bank’s organizers.
Organizers
and Directors have put up $1.9 million, but an
additional $6 million is needed. Plans are to
sell 800,000 to 1,500,000 shares to raise the start-up
capital.
The bank will be named Regional Bank of Middle
Georgia and will be privately owned by investors.
“It is
important that African Americans start taking care of
their economic empowerment and this is an excellent way
to do that,” said Fambro. “It is a good
investment for shareholders and the community as we help
employ our kids.”
