Community Leadership Profile: Cliffard Whitby

For every tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good. Luke 6:44-45

Without a doubt, the name Cliffard Whitby must be front and center in any honest list of Macon's most prominent community leaders.

And rightly so. For over 30 years, Cliffard Whitby has been a leader for good in the community. From helping create well over 2,000 jobs to incubating minority entrepreneurship to removing blight from some of our most impoverished communities, he has been a leader and a champion for Macon communities in need.

Recognition of Mr. Whitby's leadership and the benefits to the causes he has championed should be almost commonplace. Pictured here is Mr. Whitby receiving the prestigious Leadership Award from the Georgia chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (N.O.B.L.E.) at their annual convention in Columbus, GA.

Anyone can read Cliffard Whitby's record of beneficial leadership in our community; his efforts are well documented. But more important than the written record is the long-lasting impact of his community initiatives in the lives of those who have and are experiencing the benefits of those efforts, particularly the children.

We're starting 2018 with good news, real news about local unsung heroes like Cliffard Whitby. Look to the Middle Georgia Informer FIRST for telling the truthful untold stories of our community. See you in 2018!
