Warner Robins Minister Receives
Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award

by Clarence Thomas, Jr.

Middle Georgia has another Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. It's Warner Robins based minister Apostle Doretha Rivers of New Life Global Outreach International Ministries.

The Macon native received the award on January 18 in Atlanta in front of a host of distinguished state officials, business leaders, church and family members. Rivers is the founder of the 20-year-old ministry and has been pastoring for 8 years. During that time, she has accomplished a multitude of endeavors including the establishment of a non-profit focused on abused women, the homeless and prisoners. Her businesses include a hair salon, tax service and clothing store for men and women. In between she has written three books including the bestseller Push Till Something Happens and has more in development. Little did she know that her efforts were on the radar of the right people and would eventually lead to her being nominated for the award. "I'm extremely honored to receive this award. This will push me to a greater place," said Rivers. "Receiving it says someone is watching and that I’m not alone."

That someone is Dr. Dianna Ross-Hollins of Macon. The hard charging helper of humanity presides of the House of Shekinah Glory and Kingdom Builders Alliance Ministries. Ross-Hollins is also the founder of Saving Our Sisters Network – a national networking organization connecting women with God, each other and opportunities to enhance their communities. Ross-Hollins says Rivers work is a beacon of light for Middle Georgia. She says she nominated Rivers for the P.L.A.A. because she was imminently qualified. "This is only the beginning of greater and better for her. I believe she will continue to contribute to the citizens of her community and empower them to reach higher," Ross-Hollins said.

The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award criteria is strict. Besides a nomination, Rivers had to be cleared by the White House. Her volunteer hours had to exceed 400. And her outreach had to be directly impacting her community in a profound way. Based on Rivers' busy schedule it’s easy to agree with Ross-Hollins. Rivers is also a sought-after speaker who has traveled extensively throughout the United States when not ministering or globetrotting. She has a presence as far away as the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and various African countries including Kenya. The single mother of two children and six grandchildren says her success is rooted in God and the ability to stay balanced and humble. "Every day I give God the praise and honor to have received this at this time," she said. "If God done this for me, then he can for you as well. I'm very grateful for everyone that played a part in this achievement."

What's next for Rivers as she relishes her award and the fact that while the designation cut it close, former President Barack Obama's administration signed off on it just before departing office? She says plenty. Another book designed to help 5-Fold ministerial leaders to never give up is in the works and is scheduled to be released this year, as a follow up to the CD "The Prophetic Prayer" produced in January. The annual "Full Explosion" Prophetic Men and Women conference held each June she established 8 years ago; which debuted in Macon and brought thousands of dollars to the city, always needs attention. And the three noonday prayer services Rivers presides over every Monday, Wednesday and Friday are likely to only get bigger and better. She vows however to stay humble and headed in the right direction as she encourages those in the vineyard. "This will not change me," she insists before engaging others putting in the work. "Don't lose sight until your goal has been achieved. You are a winner. You are winning even when it doesn’t seem like you are."
