Rev. Melvin C. Fussell Installed As President Of Evangelical Ministers
Alliance In January 2014

Rev. Melvin C. Fussell was installed as the newly elected President of the Evangelical Ministers Alliance of Macon and Vicinity January 1, 2014 at St. Luke Baptist Church, 1180 Haywood Road, Macon, Georgia. The installation preceded the Emancipation Proclamation Service which began at 12:00 noon. Rev. Richard Gammage, Senior Pastor at New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church conducted the installation and was also the guest speaker for the Emancipation Proclamation Service.

Rev. Fussell succeeds Pastor Lisa M. Watson, Co-Pastor of the Evangelical Liberty Church in Macon. Rev. Fussell is the retired pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Macon and is currently serving as an Associate Minister at St. Luke where Rev. Marshall Stenson served as Pastor for 44 years before passing December 19, 2013.

Rev. Fussell completed his undergraduate degree from Tuskegee Institute (University) and the Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia. He received his Religious and Pastoral Certification from the Interdenominational Theological Seminary of Continuing Education.

His professional experience includes serving as the Director of Continuing Education, retired, Central Georgia Technical College, Macon Campus and is a State of Georgia Master Electrician.

His religious service includes Past President of the Georgia Baptist Missionary and Education Convention located in Macon, Past President of the Baptist Ministers Union of Macon and Vicinity and is currently the Historian of that organization and Vice President of the Evangelical Ministers Alliance of Macon and Vicinity.

Rev. Fussell has received numerous awards and recognitions some of which include Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church Father of the Year and Man of the Year; the New Era Congress of Christian Education Outstanding Instructor Award and the Exceptional Leadership and Outstanding Service Award presented by the Noonday Optimist Club of Macon.

During his tenure as President of the EMA Rev. Fussell and his administrative team will develop plans, along with input from the members of the EMA, that will increase the membership which will be vital to the organization so that it can have a broader base from which to work in terms of service to our community and to continue to recognize those individuals who have made our community a better place to live.

Rev. Fussell's hobbies include listening to jazz and classical music, swimming, traveling and motorcycle-riding with the Tuskegee Airme's Motorcycle Club. He is married to the former Esther Goddard and the couple has four children and eight grandchildren.

January 19, 2014, 5:00 PM - MLK Living the Dream, New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 795 Maynard Street in Macon, Georgia. Minister Ann Spencer, guest speaker.

January 20, 2014 - Annual Memorial MLK Day March - Groups will march from the North, East, West and South sides (NEWS) of Macon meeting at the City Hall downtown to hear brief speeches before proceeding to Steward Chapel AME where Reverend Maria Gordon serves as Pastor, for the Annual MLK Day Memorial Service.
