Mighty Zion Trumpet Gospel Singers

Since 1948, The Mighty Zion Trumpet Gospel Singers have been praising God’s name in song all over the United States and celebrated their 62nd anniversary at the True Faith Church of God in Macon, Georgia on Sunday, June 27, 2010. The anniversary celebration was dedicated to the six original members who have passed since Mighty Zion was organized. The doors of the church opened for this spectacular gospel event at 3pm and the concert began at 4pm. Special guests for the event were The Jackson Southernaires from Mississippi; The Pilgrim Jubilees of Chicago, Illinois and The Silver Stars and Devine Men of Favor, both of Macon, Georgia.

The celebration was kicked off with performances by Devine Men of Favor, who were then followed by the more seasoned groups performing many old gospel hymns such as The Doors of the Church are Open; God’s Got a Blessing; A Charge to Keep I Have; and There is Room at the Cross for You and Me.

The Mighty Zion Trumpet Gospel Singers have performed with such gospel greats as The Williams Brothers, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Williams Sisters and many others. The group retains one original member, James Hill (tenor) and also includes Stanley Glover (lead singer); Daniel Freeman (lead rhythm guitar); Larry Clover (lead singer, tenor and manager); Antonio Curry (percussionist); Michael Center (keyboard, bass guitar) and Randy Flourney (guitar, assistant manager). The group's first 45 single was Talk with Jesus and was recorded by the late Jimmy Orr and in 1986, the group released their first full-length album, Keep On Singing On. Their latest CD, Jesus is in on His Way, was released in 2007.

The Mighty Zion Trumpet Gospel Singers have recently begun a mentoring program, helping young up-and-coming gospel artists break into the business. In November of 2009, the group performed at a benefit program for the teen gospel group ReLease at Union Baptist Church in Macon, led by the Reverend David L. Stanley, Sr. This successful benefit saw tremendous community support, netting the young group $1,700 for much-needed equipment. Currently, the group is mentoring Devine Men of Favor (18 year old twin brothers Brinton and Quinton Mims), opening artists for the 62nd anniversary celebration.

This celebration was a must-see for anyone who enjoys excellent gospel performances. For more information about future concerts, please contact Booking Agent Stanley Glover at 478-747-8923.
