City Unity Celebration Brings Macon Together

By Amanda Smith

The City Unity Party & Celebration is an event that Macon, Georgia locals won’t want to miss.  This event is a meeting of the minds in which all former and newly elected officials of the city of Macon will come together with the media to celebrate a clean, fair race, a fact that Unity Party Coordinator Al Tillman says is commendable.  "All the candidates kept their word about sticking to the issues; I didn't hear of any mud-slinging," Tillman said.  "This party is to celebrate those clean races."

The party will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 6:30pm to 10:00 pm at the newly-renovated Riverview Ballroom at 426 Walnut Street in downtown Macon.  This family-oriented event will offer something for everyone from the Caleb Grimes and Celebrities Band to comedians Josh Cullison and Larry D. Veal.  Veal’s act, entitled “Let That Mess Go” describes perfectly the idea behind the Unity Celebration, an event aimed at bringing the entire city together in unity for the good of Macon.

Several candidates for Macon City Council seats, as well as David Cousino and Robert Reichert, who are facing off in the Mayoral run-off have already given their RSVPs for the party.  Rick Hutto, Willette Hill Chambliss, and Virgil Watkins have all marked their calendars for August 12, 2007.

The City Unity Celebration is free to the public and free food will be provided for all attendees.
