GABEO Holds 37th Annual Fall Conference

The Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials (GABEO) will hold its 37th Annual Fall Conference October 25 – 28, 2007 in Augusta, Georgia.  GABEO’s theme for the conference is “Stopping the Violence, Ending the Carnage, Saving Our Children!!” and is meeting in conjunction with the 15th Annual CSRA (Central Savannah River Area) Classic.  State Representative Tyrone Brooks is the President of GABEO.

 


Metro Courier Publisher Barbara Gordon will receive the Oustanding Journalism Award from GABEO 

 

Saturday’s “Stopping the Violence” luncheon will be held at Ma Fannie’s Kitchen and will feature the Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, President Emeritus of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) and Chair of the Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda.  During the luncheon, Macon City Councilman Henry Ficklin will be presented with the Presidential Award for Outstanding Public Service and Barbara Gordon, Publisher of the Metro Courier (Augusta) will be receiving the Outstanding Journalism Award.
