May Is The National Fitness Month

The month of May is the national fitness month, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. May is also the month for women as we celebrate Mother’s day; this is the time for women to reflect on our health and fitness. We take care of everyone in the Family and lose focus on ourselves. Take this month of May to get your annual medical exam, mammogram as recommended when age appropriate get your cholesterol and blood sugar checked, prevention is better than cure. This will help us take even better care of our families.Regular physical activity is good for everyone’s health and people of all ages and body types can be physically active. National Physical Fitness and Sports Month is a great time to spread the word about the benefits of getting active. Here are just a few benefits of physical activity: Children and adolescents – Physical activity can improve muscular fitness and bone and heart health. Adults – Physical activity can lower risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer.
