New Year, New You!

As we enter the new year 2017, I just want to encourage us all to take time in putting more effort to  staying and being healthy, Cardio or aerobic exercises 3 times a week helps adults to have a lower metabolic costs  than those who do not. Helps with major health problems like Diabetes, Hypertension, Inflammation and stress level.

Studies have shown that loosing 5 to 10% of your body weight lowers your blood pressure for those who are Hypertensive as well as lowering the  HbA1C, which is the measure of how your blood sugars have been in the last 3 months for those of us that are Diabetic.

Scientists have also  shown over and over again that lifestyle changes that include an appropriate healthy diet and the right exercise regimen will help attain a 5-10 percent weight-loss. In addition, any legitimate weight-loss program should promote these lifestyle changes as the first step in attaining weight-loss. They are absolutely indispensable. They work on their own when the planned weight-loss is 5-10 percent of body weight and are always used in conjunction with other measures (weight-loss medications or bariatric surgery), The weight loss plan  should be easy to understand and make sense  to a 5 year old.

Diabetes
One of the laboratory markers used to screen for diabetes and to monitor its treatment is called Hemoglobin A1C as mentioned above . The normal level should be below 6.5. Research has shown that a 5-10 percent weight-loss can decrease this marker 0.5% on average. This comes close to the effect that some anti-diabetic pills have on blood sugars.

Hypertension
Excess body weight accounts for about 25-30 percent of cases of hypertension. As body weight increases, it causes hemodynamic abnormalities and other changes that result in elevated blood pressure. By losing 5-10 percent of one's weight, blood pressure, both systolic and diastolic, decrease by 5 mmHg on average. In conjunction with a salt restricted diet, rich in vegetables, fruit and low-fat dairy, this weight-loss could be potentially even higher.

Opt to eat clean as often as possible and less processed foods, Add fruits vegies and nuts. Encourage our kids and introduce them to clean eating since Obesity is now one of the major health problems facing  our kids today.

Inflammation
In studies looking at the effect of excess weight on cells of the human body, it was found that fat cells and especially abdominal fat cells produce a large number of substances that result in inflammation in blood vessels. This inflammation then can result in plaques and clots and turn into strokes and heart attacks. When weight-loss achieves a level of 10 percent, the levels of inflammatory substances circulating in the blood drop significantly and therefore the risk of vascular damage is reduced as well.

Stress less and  have fun living! In life there has to be a balance. Take time for a "ME" time especially for women who do a lot for their family and loose themselves and  don't even know  how they got there. Find a hobby no matter what it is,  could be reading, sewing,  golfing or even watching the housewives of any county! Spend time with your Maker, intimate time with God is a stress buster, and improves your mood. All the life principles are in the Bible and we can actually tap into that more than a person can tell you. Have  relationship with your God, then,  your self  and love on someone else going through a difficult time. It helps you find your  self.

Lastly take care of your appearance, because the way you look has a positive feedback on your mood and self confidence as well as the relationship you have with others. Get some botox for the wrinkles, fillers where you have lost volumes, like the laugh lines and facials  for a more radiant skin. Women adorn yourselves at all times and look good.

January is Cervical cancer month, so women lets get appointment with our GYN and get pap test for screening. Cervical cancer can usually be cured if it is found and treated in the early stages.
