Elaine Lucas Announces Run For
Commission - District 3

Veteran educator and long-time councilwoman Elaine Lucas announced recently that she will be a candidate for the Commission District 3 seat on the Macon-Bibb County Commission. Lucas is retired from the Bibb County school system with 38 years of service and has served on the Macon City Council for twenty-five years. Lucas presently serves on the council appropriations and community resources committees and chairs the rules committee. She is a member of the NAACP, SCLC, is Vice President of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials, and is an original founding member of the Bibb County Voters League.

Lucas authored the legislation which created the Martin Luther King Commission and serves as its chairperson. She also authored the bill creating the linwood group which is now known as the Macon Cemetery Preservation Commission and is responsible for many of the accomplishments of the city over the last twenty years.

Lucas owns E Lucas Consulting, E L High School Home Study Academy, and Lucas Brothers Distributors. She has been married to senator david lucas for 36 years, is the mother of 4, grandmother of 13, and great-grandmother of two. She is a golden life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. And a 35 year member of Historic Steward Chapel AME Church. Her favorite bible verse is “faith without works is dead”. Lucas has been endorsed by hundreds of Macon, Bibb residents and asks for your prayers and votes of support if you reside in district 3 which covers the majority of east bibb and a portion of the Sofkee area.
