Tillman Announces Candidacy for Bibb County Superior Court Clerk

by Amanda Smith

Linda Tillman has announced her candidacy for the position of Clerk of the Bibb County Superior Court in Macon, Georgia. Linda has served as Chief Deputy of the Superior Court Clerk’s Office for over 15 years.

A native of Kentucky, Linda graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism in 1981 and graduated with honors from Valdosta State University in 2002 with a Masters Degree in Public Administration. She is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Honor Society for Public Administration.

In 1984, Linda moved to Macon. She gained four years of experience as a paralegal for Alton Gladin, Attorney at Law in Macon and six years as Senior Clerk with Bibb County Indigent Defense before joining the Superior Court Clerk’s office in 1997.

Since joining the Clerk's office, Linda has consistently worked to update technology and computer equipment. Three of her goals are: to be able to accept debit and credit cards, back scan all civil, criminal and domestic historical data in order to preserve this information for future generations and complete back scanning of all real estate documents. Under Linda's leadership, the Clerk's office has scanned real estate documents back to 1986 and plats back to 1823.

If elected, Linda promises, "I will continue to ensure that the Clerk's office is fiscally efficient while serving our citizens and their needs". With Consolidation looming, Linda feels it is extremely important that the citizens of Bibb County elect someone who already knows the intricacies involved in managing an office the size of Superior Court Clerk as well as having the necessary working relationships in place. "I am already ahead of the learning curve and can hit the ground running on January 1st," she said.

"I can't think of anyone more qualified for this position," said current Superior Court Clerk Dianne Brannen. "She knows this office from top to bottom, backward and forward and she consistently gets great reviews from the public. She knows and works well with everyone here," she continued. "She is definitely the right person for this job."

Linda is currently a board member of the Business & Technology Advisory Board at Central Georgia Technical College, where she also serves with the Internship Program, a program that allows students the opportunity to work in an actual office to develop their skills and gain experience for future employment. Linda also serves on Bibb County's Technology Board, reviewing all changes in the county’s technology programs including updates and is a member of the Bibb County Safety Committee Advisory Board.

In 1989, Linda married her husband Lee Tillman; they are the proud parents of Sophie, the Border collie. The Tillman's are active members and small group leaders of Life Center Church in Macon where Linda serves on the church Financial Team.

"I am truly passionate about this position; it's just not a job to me," said Linda. We have a great office and a great staff and we will continue to provide the citizens of Bibb County with the service they have come to expect."
