Does God's Words and Rules Mean Anything in 2010?

This question may seem rhetorical to many but it has come a time where you look at God's Laws and have to notice, we barely obey any of them.  The Ten Commandments are just a small snippet of what is written that we don't obey.  For example, it's clearly written in Leviticus 19:28, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your body for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord," yet massive amounts of people continue to add more and more ink and piercings on their bodies.  Many people use the excuse that they didn't know but most have heard this but simply don't care.  We're living in a time where everyone does and says what they see others do.  My mother used to ask; "if all of your friends go jump off a bridge will you go jump in too?"  The question I ask is, if everyone you know is going to hell do you wish to take that trip as well?

The Lord gave the Ten Commandments to Moses for one reason; for him to pass them to us for us to follow.

1. Thou Shall not have any other gods before me

This isn't necessarily an idol. It can mean your car, house and/or any material thing that you give more time and energy than you do Him.  Do you get up and wash your car, clean your house and/or cut your grass on Sunday or do you get up and go to church?  Do you spend more money on these items than you do on church? Which is your God?

2. Thou Shall not make unto thee any graven image

The children of Israel made idols to praise and worship while Moses was on the mountaintop with the Lord.  These days it may not be as blatant, but if you're up washing your car and focusing your attention on all of these ungodly things are these things not your idols?

 3. Thou Shall Not use the Lord thy God's name in vain

The curse word that irritates me more than any other is shortened as G.D.  If that's not a prime example of using The Lord's name in vein I don't know what is.  But ask a person that uses it and watch how they all say they said, "Got," and not God.  Now what does "got damn" mean?  How many times have you or someone you know just shouted "Jesus Christ," for some unreligious reason.  Some will even follow it with swears and cursing.

 4. Remember the Sabbath Day, Keep it Holy

Self Explanatory.  Do you keep Sundays or Saturdays if that's the day you choose holy?  The Lord said he worked 6 days creating the earth and rested on the 7th.  He commanded us to do the same.  Work 6 days and rest on day seven.

 5. Honor Your Mother and Father

Self Explanatory

6. Thou shall not kill

There was no "unless" after "kill." Self Explanatory.

7. Thou shall not commit adultery

This is just one of those things that have become a common occurrence in this time and era. To many, marriage is not something that sacred anymore.

8. Thou shall not steal

Illegal downloads is stealing among other things.  Taking something that does not belong to you rather big or small is stealing. Illegal downloading is one of those things that people don't really think about.  But there are others that is blatantly known as stealing but still done.

 9. Thou shall not bare false witness against thy neighbor

This is as simple as saying, "Don't Lie."

10. Thou shall not covet thy neighbors house, though shall not covet thy neighbors wife, husband, slave or ox or donkey or anything that belongs to thou neighbor

How many times have you looked at something of your neighbors or anyone else and said, "Wow, I want that?" or "Wow, I wish I had one of those."

Believe me, I am not perfect and I, too, have fallen a victim of doing many of these things.  But some days I just sit back and look at the world and wonder what God thinks of it.  I wonder if we are worse than the people of Noah's day. I wonder if we are worse than the children of Israel.

God's word is something that we all should reflect on and teach.  The school system stopped teaching it a long time ago.

So are we gonna just settle for the same fate of those in the past? Or will we stand up and fight the war in front of us, making sure God’s Laws and Words are significant for generations to come?”
