Are You Ready
For Some Football???
Michael Smith
Michael Smith

Are you ready for some football? I know I am. This will be a very interesting season. Some teams have made some interesting changes in the offseason. Let's start with the Philadelphia Eagles. I feel they are trying to buy a Superbowl. They've made some significant changes but somehow it seems they forgot to make some moves to protect Michael Vick. They have a pretty good defensive line but to me their offense sucks. Vick will save them throughout the season but as a team I think they are overrated.

Taking a look at the conferences I think the NFC are changing powers. The NFC East was once the best conference in football. I now believe the NFC South is best. The Falcons will definitely be one of the better teams in the NFC this year. I think they finally have taken the reign from New Orleans. Tampa isn't far behind though. I think the Falcons are primed for a Superbowl run this year, especially with the additions of Defensive End Ray Edwards and Wide Receiver Julio Jones. I'm sure they want another crack at Greenbay after being embarrassed by them in the post season last season.

The AFC is deeper this year. There are about 4 or 5 teams that can win it all. You cannot talk Superbowl without mentioning the Pittsburg Steelers, New England Patriots or the NY Jets. Though I'm not a big Jets fan they made a wise decision in picking up Plaxico Burress. They really need him to help develop Mark Sanchez. Their defense will be explosive with Rex Ryan running it.

The New England Patriots will continue to make noise this year. The additions of Albert Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco are huge. Ochocinco gives them a big time player who does talk a lot but who also backs it up. With Wes Walker playing the slot and especially if he stays healthy they can only get better.

This is possibly the first time in years the Colts aren’t in the playoff conversation to start the season. Peyton Manning isn’t healthy and they just brought in an old Kerry Collins to take over until he is in playing shape. The only problem is Kerry Sucks. His glory days are way behind him. He has a big arm but is very turnover prone.

There are many other interesting scenarios this season. For instance, the Giants lost three players in the preseason. Lets hope they can get their thing together by regular season. At the end of the day, it’s time to kick back and enjoy another season.
