Anita Ponder
President of Macon City Council
As President of the Macon City Council, Anita
Ponder is the first female to serve in that capacity and has done so
for 8 years. She is also Director of Education at the historic
Tubman Museum, the largest museum of its kind in the
Southeast. Anita has always been committed to the
revitalization to all of Macon's historic district, especially
downtown Macon. For the past 10 years, "Anita Ponder &
Friends" has hosted the "Holiday Feast For All" on Christmas Day,
feeding over 1200 of our city's hungry and homeless
population. In 2006, Anita was selected by "The History
Makers," a Chicago-based organization that selects individuals to be
documented based on their contribution to history and society as a
whole.
