Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum

President of Spelman College

 

President of Spelman College since 1992, Dr. Beverly Tatum is a clinical psychologist with a special interest in race assimilation, traveling extensively for over 20 years to lead workshops on racial identity development and its impact in the classroom.  Dr. Tatum has published numerous articles and written two books, Assimilation Blues: Black Families in a White Community (1987) and Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? and Other Conversations About Race (1997).  As scholar, teacher, author, administrator, and race relations expert, Dr. Tatum works for the betterment of our society by making an impact on our youth, educating them about race relations and racial identity development.
