A Columbus man has netted a win worth millions. David Huff, 46, won $5 million playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Georgia ’s $500 Million Club.

Circle K Stores #6678, 215 Fourth St. in Columbus , sold the winning ticket. The father of four scratched the ticket just outside of his car. What he discovered, Huff said, was unbelievable.

“I broke my glasses trying to look at the ticket,” he said. “I was sure of what I saw, so I had to take a deep breath

Huff, who likes to go fishing, plans to buy a boat, a house and a car.

“I want to carry on with life as it is now,” he said. “I just haven’t gotten over the feeling yet.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
