For A Year

A Fort Stewart woman is celebrating a $52,000 Georgia Lottery win. Sharon Keaton matched five out of six winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the Oct. 18 Win for Life drawing and won the game’s second prize of $1,000 a week for a year.

Texaco Foodmart, 250 General Screven Way in Hinesville, sold the Quik Pik ticket. Winning numbers from the drawing were: 13-22-23-30-34-38 and the Free Ball was 20.

Keaton called the Georgia Lottery’s player information hot line and discovered her win.

“I went running through the house and screaming,” she said.

Keaton, who operates a home day care, is married with three teenage children. Her husband is stationed at Fort Stewart .

According to Keaton, she is still deciding how to use her winnings.

“I don’t know yet,” she shared. “I’ll probably just save it. Maybe get a second car.”

Win for Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia , Virginia and Kentucky . As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia .

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $10.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
