A
Hampton welder is
celebrating a half-million dollar Georgia Lottery win. Bobby
Sloan, 62, played the instant game $500,000 Player’s
Club and won a $500,000 top
prize.

located at 37 E. Main
St. in
Hampton , sold the
lucky ticket. Sloan scratched his ticket in the store.
“I started jumping up and down,” he said.
“He was just screaming and hollering,”
added his wife, Geraldine Sloan. “He was just jumping
up. It was exciting, very exciting.”
The Sloans,
who have been married 43 years, have five sons, 14
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They plan to
purchase a new home and new car with their winnings.
Since its
first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned
over $10.3 billion to the state of
Georgia for
education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for
specific educational programs including
Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and
Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More
than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more
than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide,
voluntary prekindergarten program.
