Quick Shop, located at 37 E. Main St. in Hampton , sold the lucky ticket. Sloan scratched his ticket in the store.

“I started jumping up and down,” he said.

“He was just screaming and hollering,” added his wife, Geraldine Sloan. “He was just jumping up. It was exciting, very exciting.”

The Sloans, who have been married 43 years, have five sons, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They plan to purchase a new home and new car with their winnings.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $10.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
