ATLANTA – A
hotel housekeeper from Americus is celebrating a
half-million dollar Georgia Lottery win. Priscilla
Battle played Jumbo Jumbo Bucks and won the instant
game’s $500,000 top prize.
Discount Tobacco
#0003, located at 704 N. Lee St. in Americus , sold the
lucky ticket.
Hall, 42, says her daughter scratched
the ticket in the store. "She showed me the ticket
and I couldn't believe it."
Hall plans to share some of her winnings with her
family and will save the remainder.
According to Hall, her family has already
benefitted from the Georgia Lottery. Her daughter
and brother attended South Geirgia Technical College in
Americaus on HOPE and her granddaughter is currently
enrolled in lottery-funded Pre-K.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery
Corporation has returned over $8.4 billion to the state
of Georgia for education. All Georgia lottery
profits go to pay for specific educational programs
including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and
Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than
900,000 students have received HOPE scholarships, and
more than 700,000 4-year olds have attended the
statewide, voluntary prekindergarten
program.
