Jewelry Store Employee Sparkles With Two Lottery Wins

A jewelry store employee had a gem of a week after two Georgia Lottery wins. Theonita Shropshire won $500 in last Monday’s Cash 3 Midday drawing and topped off her week with a $50,000 win playing Jumbo Bucks Classic.

“I’m pretty lucky,” said Shropshire , 48.

Mega Star Food Mart #0003, located at 1842 Mack Smith Road in Rossville, sold the lucky top prize tickets. When Shropshire scratched her Jumbo Bucks Classic instant game ticket in the store, she began yelling.

“I just screamed, ‘Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!’ ” she said.

Shropshire , who works as a buyer, is married with an adult son and two granddaughters. She said her two lottery wins come at a great time.

“I’m going to buy some new garage doors and put the rest in savings,” said Shropshire, a resident of Chattanooga , Tenn.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $10.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
