Macon
insurance counselor is carrying a half-million dollar
lottery win. Rhonda Reid, a senior insurance counselor
for GEICO,
won a $500,000 top prize playing the Georgia
Lottery instant game $500,000 Player’s
Club.

“I
was at home when I was overcome with a lucky feeling,”
she said.
Reid
purchased the ticket at 49ER Food Mart,
2440
Shurling Drive
in Macon
, and scratched it at home.
“I
just started shaking,” she said. “I called all of my
family members. Before I knew it, they were all
there.
“It
hasn’t hit me,” Reid added. “It’s so
unreal.”
A
mother of one adult son, Reid plans to pay off her bills
and share the prize
money with immediate
family members.
“I
want to be able to take care of myself and my family,”
she shared.
Since
its first year, the Georgia
Lottery Corporation has returned over $10.1
billion to the state of
Georgia
for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for
specific educational programs including
Georgia
’s HOPE Scholarship
Program and Georgia
’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have
received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have
attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten
program.
