Macon Man Wins $42,000 Playing Fantasy 5

A Macon man said he was destined to win the lottery. Charlie Cooper, 52, matched all five winning numbers in the June 18 Fantasy 5 drawing and won the $42,464 top prize.

The research lab technician said his dream has come true.

"It was a good day," Cooper said about the day he won.  "I was hoping I'd win, and I did."

He purchased the Quik Pik ticket at Jenish Food Mart, 5220 Jeffersonville Road in Dry Branch. Winning numbers from the June 18 drawing were: 26-27-28-35-39. Cooper checked his numbers on the Georgia Lottery Web site.

"I had a fit," the father of four said.  "I almost fell out."

He has four daughters, ages 28, 27 and 14-year-old twins. Cooper shared that he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and take his daughters on vacation.

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Jenish Food Mart will receive a $2,000 retailer incentive bonus.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
