A Georgia Public
Broadcasting corporate sales
manager from Milledgeville
became Georgia ’s newest millionaire on the luckiest day
of the century, 07/07/07. James “Jim” Fain Jr., 42, is
one of four Millionaire Raffle winners who won $1
million in the statewide drawing held July
7.
Jet Food
Store #0069, 2783 N. Columbia St. in
Milledgeville, sold
the winning ticket. The retailer will receive a $2,500
retailer incentive bonus for selling the top prize
ticket.
He and his
wife, Tina, had returned home from an evening out when
they checked the Georgia Lottery Web site.
“I started
hyperventilating,” he said. “I got out of my chair
because I was in shock that we’d won.”
Fain and
his wife have two boys, ages 18 and 4, and are expecting
their third child in December. With his winnings, Fain
plans to invest in the children’s
education.
“That’s the
legacy for our children and our grandchildren,” he said.
“All of their needs will be met, and that is what’s
important. We want to pass it
on.”
Since its
first year, the Georgia Lottery
Corporation has
returned over $9 billion to the state of Georgia for
education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific
educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE
Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten
Program. More than 1 million students have received
HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended
the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten
program.
