Riverdale College Student Wins $5,000, Becomes Eligible For $10M Drawing

A Riverdale college student is feeling great about winning the lottery. Chrissy Hood, 25, won $5,000 when she was randomly selected in the Georgia’s Millionaire Club weekly drawing held Jan. 25. As a result of her lucky win, Hood now has a chance to win $10 million.

Hood said that her sister, who was watching the televised drawing, shared the good news.

“My sister called me while I was in the mall,” she said. “I let out a scream, and people began looking at me.”

A student at DeKalb Technical College, Hood said she plans to open a day care center if she wins the $10 million top prize. She plans to save her $5,000 winnings.

Georgia’s Millionaire Club weekly drawings are held in conjunction with the instant game Georgia’s $500 Million Club. Each weekly Georgia’s Millionaire Club winner will receive $5,000 and become a finalist in the Extra Chance $10 Million Grand Prize Drawing.

Players can mail in a non-winning Georgia’s $500 Million Club ticket to enter the Georgia’s Millionaire Club drawings. Complete the back of the ticket, add a stamp, and mail the ticket as a postcard. The Georgia Lottery will conduct a weekly drawing from all entries received that week. Weekly drawings will be broadcast each Friday as a part of the Cash 3 evening drawings.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 860,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
