Valdosta Man Wins $80,000 On Scratch-Off Ticket

Tremaine Williams

A Valdosta man is celebrating a Georgia Lottery win on a scratch-off ticket.  Tremayne Williams played the instant game Double Down and won one of the game’s $80,000 top prizes.

M S Foodmart, located at 1000 E. Park Ave. in Valdosta , sold the lucky ticket.

When Williams scratched his ticket at home, the celebration began.  “I started jumping up and down,” said Williams. “I was just shocked. I still can’t believe it.”  According to Williams, 22, he will use his winnings to buy a new car and help his family.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia ’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia ’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
