Warner Robins based Licensed Professional Counselor & Life Empowerment Coach La Tonya Klish-Polk says she’s committed to creating and maintaining a more balanced world through the empowerment of minds and the transformation of lives.. Her business Unify Consulting is how she’s attempting to do that.
Using therapy or as her website also refers to it as counseling, Klish-Polk is providing a structured and collaborative process aimed at helping individuals, couples, or groups address and manage psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and improve their overall well-being and mental health. “You’re not crazy just because you choose therapy. There’s nothing wrong with you. It can be for anyone that feels they need it,” she says.
Her journey towards being a therapist began while trying to get into nursing school for the Dallas, Texas native after aspiring to be in law enforcement as a child and considering other professions as a young adult . After much deliberation she decided to pump the brakes, shift gears and go in another direction. “I chose this field by asking myself ‘what is it I like to do?’. I like people and studying their behavior so I finally settled on this profession,” she shared. “It was quite a journey but I finally got there.”
To the benefit of her clients it appears. She serves a diverse population with challenges ranging from depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, mood disorders, and utilizing different therapeutic approaches according to Klish-Polk.
She works with ages 12-17 and adults 18 and up assisting most with making progress without them even noticing. “It’s a joy to see people making progress because everyone doesn’t move at the same pace. My wins are seeing clients making those steps towards recognizing their greatness.”
One of her success stories is 37 year old Ebony Woolfork of Oglethorpe, GA. She lives 45 minutes away but decided on Unify Consulting after meticulously seeking out a therapist. Her one year of working with Klish-Polk has been very rewarding and productive, added the mother of three and healthcare professional; and is making her choice and the drive worthwhile. “She’s very relatable. But competition is not her focus since she respects other therapists because they’re working towards the same goals she says.
Therapy in the Park is ultimately about getting clients outside and activating healing sparked by soul soothing stimuli like the sounds of birds chirping, children laughing, the feeling of a cool breeze, or the ground under their feet. “It feels good when you’re outside. It’s just another way in which I meet my clients right where they are,” said Klish-Polk.
In addition to the outside experience and individual, group, and couple counseling, Klish-Polk offers children’s, and pre-martial counseling, along with coaching sessions. Unify Consulting is also Veteran, family-friendly, and accepts approved insurance.
