Lewis Ondrey LoyAt age 7, Lewis Ondrey Young; a young country boy and his siblings of Montezuma, Georgia, were separated after the untimely death of their mother. Young was sent to live with his father in Miami, Florida and his siblings were later adopted. This was a difficult time for Young; to go from the country to the city of Miami. Living in the city was a new world that Young struggled adapting to. The street life was an unkind place for Young. The life of fast money became his God. Young was later arrested and sentenced to 17 years in prison; served 15years in the federal penitentiary.

While in prison, Young found a new walk and talk with GOD. He spent his time meditating, praying and praising God for the vision and the mission God gave him. When asking Young about his vision and mission, he said, “My mission is to buy more homes for victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking and youth. The vision God gave me is to make an impact of change with our youth. I want the farmers market to help give them jobs that will help build to be strong entrepreneurs.” After his release from prison, he went back to Georgia and started working to leave the legacy of his grandfather.

The man with a vision was on a mission to continue the works of his grandfather by opening a farmers’ market. Young’s grandfather taught him the value of fresh produce and how to plant, pick and plow. He takes pride and values all his produce to ensure his customers receives 100% satisfaction. Young’s fruits and vegetables are fresh and straight from his harvest. His farm raise produce is not only fresh, but the green leafy vegetables have a vibrant color, and they have a crisp for a better taste. It is important that his customers receive the best looking, tasting, and nutritional value in produce. When you see his produce, the first thing you notice is the vibrant color. The customers love the fact that Young personally picks and packs the best fruits and vegetables.

Loy’s Market is very popular and well known for fresh vegetables. To name a few; seasonal vegetables and fruits are tomatoes, collards, cabbages, bell peppers, onions, fresh fruits; apples, bananas and boiled peanuts. Loy’s customer George Crawley and Kwame of the Harriet Tubman Museum says, “I been knowing Loy for years. He provides great tasting produce and excellent customer service.”

Young and his wife Tyra’s market is in the heart of downtown Macon.
